1. To provide students with a sound foundation in the mathematical, scientific and engineering fundamentals necessary to formulate, solve and analyze engineering problems and to prepare them with o prepare students with general knowledge and understand the basics of Mechanical Engineering knowledge (Fundamental Knowledge);

2. To develop the ability among students to synthesize data and technical concepts for application to product design and Able to apply their expertise and utilize technology in their fields in solving problems and be able to adapt to the situation at hand (Professional Skills);

3. To promote student awareness of the life-long learning and to introduce them to professional ethics and codes of professional practice (Ethics and Life-long Learning); and

3. To provide students experience with the multifaceted aspects of using computers to solve problems and present results with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and professional level applications software used for design and analysis and to provide for obtaining and the use of information on the world wide web (Computational Skills).

Objectives Department of Mechanical Engineering:

The Civil Engineeringl graduates are expect to be able to:

1. Enter the construction industry and advance toward leadership positions in the construction industry;

2. Work on multi-disciplinary teams and effectively communicate with constructors, architects, engineer, the public and public agents, scientists and others to completeconstruction projects;

3. Engage in the life-long learning necessary to advance professionally in the constructionField;

4. Contribute to society and the construction industry through involvement in professionalrelated and/or other service activity;

5. Some graduates can expect to be able to planning, designing, analysing implementation, control & supervise related with the Civil Engineering issues;

6. Enter the surveying profession and become licensed to practice surveying;

7. Earn a Master of Civil Engineering programdegree from DIT or othergraduate Colleges.

8. Conduct their affairs in a highly ethical manner holding paramount the safety, health andwelfare of the public and striving to comply with the principles of sustainable Development;

Learning Outcomes and Competencies:

The following describes the Mechanical Engineering program outcomes and their related assessment process as follows (Knowledge):

1. The broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental and societal context;

2. A recognition of the need for and an ability to engage in lifelong learning, students to learn and develop their reasoning skills in mechanical engineering continuously not only to objects outside themselves, but also to their own lives both as individuals and as a community;

3. A knowledge of contemporary issues, in this case knowing the latest technology and the latest innovations in mechanical engineering;

4. Demonstrate understanding of business and entrepreneurial skills by developing business, marketing, and venture plans, or other approved instrument in Mechanical engineering. Such as being able to be responsible for carrying out their own work (entrepreneurship) and being able to employ other people.

The skills expected for graduates to adquire are:

1. An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering;

2. An ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data;

3. An ability to design a system, component or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economics, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability and sustainability;

4. An ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams;

5. An ability to identify, formulate and solve engineering problems;

6. An ability to use the techniques, skills and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice such as Screen tools.
